With special guest:

When you listen to Mick’s interview, just like when you see his face looking straight at you on the cover of his new book you know the sort of bloke he is. Mick is a straight shooter with a background in the military who takes us into the kitchen on a practical mission. COOKING for Kids BY DADS does not assume any prior knowledge of the essential art of cooking. In language we can all understand and with gorgeous photos we get the picture on how Dad can go from zero to hero with his kids and his family generally.

This book is most needed when Dad suddenly realises that for whatever reason he should be the one doing the cooking. This could be due to one-off events or when a more permanent arrangement is required and Dad cannot rely on a significant other to feed the hungry. Not that some Mums haven’t caught up with the benefits of being able to leave Dad in the kitchen or to brush up themselves on a few basics.

You cannot help but be inspired when you see Mick’s finished work and the great beauty is that Mick makes it all so easy.

In talking to Mick it becomes obvious how important the family meal is. Dinner is a time to regale other family members with the events of the day. It is an enjoyable time when even serious matters can be discussed best. The other benefits Mick describes are the healthy effects of being able to decide what ingredients are going to be used and to remove the dependence on the unhealthy additives such as sugar.

Mick has enjoyed his journey to kitchen competence and you will find that coming along with him is a delight. Not your average cooking book, this one is an adventure.

Mick Both

Mick Both is a separated Father of three children with a background as an Engineering and Science graduate from Melbourne University. He has flown jets for the RAAF and remains an Army reservist while running several successful businesses. Cooking is a more recent adventure where he has relied on the expert advice of his own and other children in deciding what works for a Dad with no prior knowledge of how to produce tasty, nutritious and healthy food.
