With special guest:

Jimmy Buffett sang that he wished he had a pencil thin moustache. Apart from the benefits of looking so dapper, a moustache in November 2019 can mean you save lives.

Our guest today is Jeremy Macvean who worked initially in the fundraising section of Movember and has now moved on to projects such as the TV series Man Up and the SpeakEasy Workshops.

Movember is a fascinating story starting with an idea in a Melbourne pub that has now spread as far as Ireland. And Jeremy is great to listen to as he takes us from that initial discussion between a few mates some 15 years ago to where we see moustaches drawn on Sydney buses and promotions to take our minds off the Australian performances in the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Movember is fun and it is very easy to participate. Not before 1 November men just need to stop shaving that upper lip and sign into Movember to get some recognition and raise funds. But that is not all. Movember promotes moving as a health imperative. As a guide start with 2km a day of walking or running but the amount of movement is up to you. If you get to 60 km over the month of November that is the same number of men the world loses to suicide every hour of every day. In Australia alone we lose 6 men a day to suicide.

The overall aim of Movember is to stop men dying prematurely.

Women and girls you can become a Mo Sista. Some of the keenest people involved in Movember do not naturally grow moustaches but there are heaps of other fun things to do. For all the information on Movember, including how to become a Mo Bro or a Mo Sista, fund raising, events, tips, support you name it just go to the Movember website and it is all there. You will want to become a part of this movement.
